About me…
I'm a full-time writer and freelance tutor with a Bachelor of Arts in English & American Literature and a Master of Arts in Creative & Life Writing from Goldsmiths, University of London. I tutor in all things English, from Primary stage to degree level, essay writing to exam preparation, Shakespeare to Salman Rushdie.
Since 2017, I’ve helped students of various ages and backgrounds to build their confidence and realise their potential in the subject. This has included homeschooled students - who I’ve guided through the entire GCSE syllabus - students with special education needs, and students for whom English is a second language.
Specialising in GCSE, A Level and Common Entrance Exams, I support my students through the entire process, familiarising them with the exams - the questions asked and how to answer them - while building up their knowledge and skill-set to ensure that they succeed on the day.
I firmly believe that, given the right guidance, anyone can write a compelling story, craft a rousing speech or compose an outstanding essay. Through my teaching I hope to draw these things out of my students, sparking their creativity and allowing them to discover their true, inner writers.
What I can offer…
A Trusted Teacher
I hold an enhanced DBS disclosure, and have taught students of all ages since 2017. I‘ve also worked alongside a number of teaching agencies, such as Tutorhouse, Titanium Tutors, the Local Teachers and Reed Education.
Real Progress
I have a proven track record of helping students to boost their grades over time. Many go on to achieve A's / 7-9s, and others to achieve (or surpass) their target grades. Whatever you’re aiming for, it’s my job to see you triumph!
A Student-led Approach
Whether you’re falling behind at school, prepping for an exam or anything else, I will develop my lesson plans around your own individual needs and aims, and provide you with the tools needed to succeed on your own.
A Flexible Schedule
Life can be unpredictable, and I try to be as flexible as I can for students who need to reschedule at more than a day’s notice or book in a last-minute lesson. I will also respond to any of your queries within a few hours.
An Inspiring Environment
English is a creative subject that comes alive most when it’s enjoyed. From speech writing to Elizabethan sonnets, I strive to imbue my lessons with my own deep love for the subject, and hope to pass this on to the students I teach.
Constant Support
Impending exams and essay deadlines can quickly become overwhelming. That’s why, for regular students, I offer continued support between lessons, such as marking past papers and checking over coursework drafts.
